M. Edward Nagel is Director of Bands and Supervisor of Music for Fairborn City Schools. He teaches instrumental music grades 6 - 12 and music theory. The Symphonic Winds and Jazz Ensemble at FHS have received superior ratings at the state and national level, and the Skyhawk Marching Band was the 2007, 2008 Tournament of Bands Chapter 8 Champions and the 2003 MSBA class AAA Champion. In 2008 the FHS Indoor Percussion Ensemble, Winter Guard and the Baker Middle School Flagline were all named the Ohio Indoor Performance Association State Champions. He has twice been named to "Who's Who in American Teachers". Prior to his appointment to Fairborn City Schools, Mr. Nagel served as Principal Horn of the Air Force Band of Flight for 10 years, and has performed with the Symphonies of Springfield (OH), Dayton (OH), Lima (OH), Muncie (IN) and Fort Wayne (IN). He has also performed or recorded with Conversation Jazz Brass, Steven Melillo, The Loudhorns, Mr. Jack Daniels Original Cornet Band, The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Rob McConnell, Bobby Shew, Glen Campbell, Mac Davis and Andy Williams. A native of Maryland, he attended Towson University. Mr. Nagel is a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, IN. He is an active adjudicator of both concert and marching band contests.
